Description
This is the Woodland Viaduct, an open-spandrel concrete arch bridge rehabilitated in 1995 that carries the drive over the Bronx River and railroad tracks near Mile Marker 10. It was built on a tight curve with almost a 45∞ angle at each end. This configuration was inconvenient in the days of early automobile travel and has become more problematic as traffic speeds have increased. Location of photograph: White Plains - New York.
