Map of Shonnard Park at Yonkers,
  ca. 1875
The Shonnard family of Yonkers owned 220 acres of property along the
Hudson River on Warburton Avenue, which Edward Shonnard sold to his friend
John Bond Trevor in 1876. Prior to the sale of the property to Trevor, Shonnard
had a map drawn of the estate dividing the property into 36 lots. Apparently,
he sought to sell the land to a developer, who would turn the property into
a suburban-commuter development. However, when his fellow harness racing
friend expressed an interest in the property, he sold it to him. Trevor immediately
began building his High Gothic Style home, Glenview, on the property. Today,
Glenview is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is part
    of the Hudson River Museum.
